BOOKS

Interesting books I’ve been involved in making, to varying degrees.

Interior Layout & Design

A collection of short stories and personal essays, self-published and distributed.

There was a modest pre-order campaign involved with this

one, which included branded scratch-off prize cards. I

mixed and painted the gray scratch-off material onto each

card by hand. One of those ideas that seems a lot less

labor intensive right up until you get started.

For an independently released short story collection in the

twenty-first century, it sold pretty well. I used the money I

made from it to buy my wife's engagement ring.

“MY DJ”

To promote the book’s pre-order campaign, a few filmmaker friends and I adapted one of the stories in the collection into a short film. It was featured on the front page of FunnyOrDie.com for a few days, and at the time we were extremely excited about that. I'm not even sure if that website exists anymore.

That’s me getting hit with the dodgeball.

The Owl is Great at Being Silent

by Thomas “News” McGill

A collection of essays, lessons, and stories of questionable veracity written by Tommy "News" McGill, regular contributor to South Dakota Public Radio's Rock Garden Tour.

Business Second

by Paul Schock & Chad Hatch, as told to me

A brief personal and professional history of the founders of Bird Dog Equity.

The Bird Dog guys wanted a collateral piece that was a little more authentic and substantial than what they

typically see in their industry, so I interviewed each of them for a several hours and ghostwrote this short non-fiction book about them.
